Back when I signed my publishing contract, I had NEVER heard of Bookstagram! Honestly, the only reason I even stumbled upon it is because the Instagram algorithm is scary good and figured out that I would like (love) it!
If you’re unfamiliar, it is a WHOLE WORLD of book love. It is instagrammers whose main focus is posting stylized photos of books. That’s it! And it makes my heart so darn happy. You’ll also find that each bookstagrammer develops a very specific aesthetic (color palette, props, etc.), which makes their feeds INCREDIBLE to look at. It’s like my eyes sigh with happiness when they see it.
Once I started diving into it, I became pretty obsessed with the gorgeous Instagram photos of books and perfectly curated aesthetics. If you’ve never heard of it, you’re not alone! The other day I was talking to one of my recently-graduated college students, and she hadn’t heard of it either. And I think I got her hooked after showing her some of my favorite feeds.
That made me think… How many of my friends need some joy and beautiful books in their Instagram feed? How many of my friends have never heard of this and need to be let in on the secret?
